Abstract
|
| |
Around the globe, students and young engineers
are playing an increasing role in the coordination and delivery
of engineering education programs. Many youth-led
initiatives are now conducted with students involved in all
aspects of their creation, organisation and delivery. This
trend presents an exciting opportunity for the education of
engineering students, both those involved in delivery of the
courses and for participants.
This paper profiles four leading youth-led engineering education
programs and analyses their structure and growth in
recent years... |

Abstract

This paper describes the design of a portable,
cheap and easy to handle microcontroller-based heart monitoring
system using a Atmega32 model-based microcontroller
and GLCD. The project is capable of detecting and distinguishing
the normal heart signal from an abnormal one.
A circuit was designed to convert the sound signals from the
heart into electrical signals. The signal so obtained was then
processed and conditioned to get a Phonocardiogram
(PCG). The design considerations of this project are influenced
by its target users... |

Abstract
|
| |
Sole motive of this work is hardware/data resource
sharing over internet for academic/lab experimentation
purpose. In India, major problem with the education
system is lack of practical knowledge due to unavailability
of resources. Without practical implementation, students
find difficulty in correlating their theoretical knowledge
with real world problems. Thus to tackle this situation,
"virtual labs" are developed with an intended idea to support
and upgrade the quality of education in engineering
colleges where lack of practical facilities hinders growth of
technical education among students... |

This paper presents a comparison analysis between
two engineering software platforms, Matlab/Simulink
& PSIM, which are used as major educational tools in
teaching of power electronics and electrical drive courses, in
additional to conducted research in these fields. The comparison
analysis is based on studying the design simplicity of
the module, time consumed in building of the module, accuracy,
functionality, simulation time, and the acceptability of
obtained results. Various power electronic simulation circuits
are illustrated and the results are processed and displayed... |

Abstract
|
| |
This paper describes a research on The Flexible
Bus Systems (FBS) using Zigbee as a communication medium.
The Flexible Bus System is a demand responsive transit
(DRT) which is more efficient and convenient in a sense that
it entertains passenger's demands and gives bus locations in
real time. The real time synchronization of The Flexible Bus
System makes it information rich and unique as compared to
other DRTs. The Flexible Bus Systems is a system that can
replace the Traditional Bus Systems with its flexibility and
efficiency... |

RoboSapien is famous human like robot toy
intended for playing with, of interested in, of all ages, and

robots and robotic control. The programming of
RoboSapien as described in user's manual is limited with
the internal memory, battery life, and not very convenient
input of actions through the multipurpose buttons of the
RoboSapien IR remote control device. In order to offer
better conditions for experimenting and using of
RoboSapien, the web user interface was developed, that

The objective of this work is to model an artificial

capacity of working fluid LiBr-H2O used in vapour absorption
refrigeration systems. A feed forward back propagation
algorithm is used for the network, which is most popular for
ANN. The consistence between experimental and ANN's
approach result was achieved by a mean relative error 0.00573,

Abstract
|

Remote online laboratories enable students to
conduct scientific investigations using real experimental
equipment. However, scaling up remote labs may require
significant costs in purchasing and maintaining expensive
equipment compared to scaling simulated labs. While these
costs are a consequence of using physical equipment, we
argue that there are unique educational advantages to remote
labs. This paper presents the results of a preliminary
study of student perceptions of a remote lab in comparison
to an identical lab experience with simulated data... |

Abstract
|

Science labs have repeatedly shown their impact
on high school students for increasing the interest in natural
sciences and engineering [1]. Due to the fact that pupils are
experimenting independently, their natural interest in
research can be re-activated due to improved intrinsic
motivation. However, with the increasing density in school
curricula - in Germany especially caused by the reduction of
the high school duration by one year - many teachers do not
find the time to visit science labs due to their often
extracurricular topics... |

The MEMS structures represent a milestone in
the actual bioengineering and micro-fluidics area. Simulators
are necessary for the students training or for specialists

and their applications for the simulation of an integrated
micropump, achievable in the SOI technology. The simulations
results intend to emphasize the tools performances and

study of a challenging phenomenon observed in
natural world. Mainly, the study is concerned with conceptual
interdisciplinary analysis and evaluation of quantified
learning creativity phenomenon. In association, it deals with
diverse aspects of measurable behavioral learning performance
and is observed by two diverse natural biological system
models (i.e. human and non-human creatures). Specifically,
the studies of two biological models consider the comparison

Abstract
|

This paper describes an engineering undergraduate
course that covers the methods and techniques of multiphysics
modeling. Students become active participants in
analysis and discovery by being challenged to solve a sequence
of problems related to high priority technology areas.
Projects range from power systems and thermal control
of habitats to autonomous flight systems and harsh environment
electronics. Working in a cooperative learning
environment, teams encounter a series of assignments that
build on existing skills while gradually expanding their
knowledge and expertise in disciplines outside of their own... |

This paper introduces a new set of compact
interactive simulations developed for the constructive
learning of computer networks concepts. These simulations,
which compose a virtual laboratory implemented as

Furthermore, in this work, the skills and motivation level
acquired by the students are evaluated and measured when
these simulations are combined with Moodle and SCORM

Abstract

Given the wide use of fiber optic technology in
industry and high-end consumer electronics, the use of optical
fiber should be more widely taught; however, limited
available resources in the provision of laboratory hardware
has increasingly marginalized the educational quality of
fiber optic communications courses. This paper presents two
models for implementing fiber optic communications laboratories
for both on-site and distance learning environments.
The dual use of these set-ups allows for a highly cost
