Abstract
|
| |
The work involves an experimental study on the effect of initial yeast extract concentration on microbial production of xylitol from xylose using Candida Parapsilosis NCIM-3323 and the optimum values have been established. The initial yeast extract concentration was varied in the range of 3-8 g/l at a temperature of 30 oC, pH of 3.5 and initial xylose
concentration of 60 g/l. It is observed that maximum production of xylitol is obtained for an initial yeast extract concentration of 4 g/l... |

Abstract

Nitrate is a major pollutant present in effluent wastewater from nitrogenous fertilizer, explosives, paper mills, pulp mills, and also from municipal waste. Nitrate is harmful to both mankind and animal and also to the environment. The World
Health Organization has set a limit of 10 mg/L NO3 for human consumption and 100 mg/l NO3 for animals. Water above these limits requires denitrification. Nitrates causes cancer, blue-bay syndrome, hypertension and thyroid hypertrophy... |

In the present study, 50 microbial strains were isolated from the soil samples from different regions of Andhra Pradesh. Among the isolates hyper producing strain namely, Bacillus Clausii was selected for alkaline protease production. The protease production efficiency of the organisms was measured with different environmental and nutritional parameters. The optimum fermentation conditions of production were temperature 400C, pH 8 and time 32H. Fructose, peptone and Copper sulphate as good nutritional sources for producing higher yields of the enzyme... |

The objective of this study is to investigate the optimal parameter levels for removal of nitrates from wastewater using Pseudomonas stutzeri in a fluidized bed bioreactor by Taguchi method and validating the predicted values. In this study the influence of airflow rate, temperature, carbon source, PP beads (Poly Propylene) and pH at different levels was
investigated was made using Taguchi’s L16(4)5 orthogonal array technique. The nitrate removal efficiency after optimization is more than 96% with airflow rate at level 2 (A2), temperature at level 3(B3), carbon source at level 4(C4), PP beads at level 2(D2) and pH at level 2(E2)... |

seedlings growing in nutrient solutions supplemented with Cr+6 (100µM) showed noticeable decrease in root and shoot length, fresh and dry matter; whereas addition of chelating agents like EDTA, DTPA and EDDHA with Cr+6 at 10 µM

Abstract
|
| |
The DNA binding protein of stationary phase cells (Dps)-first discovered in starved Escherichia coli-is capable of
providing protection to cells during exposure to various environmental assaults. Its ability to do so is based on three intrinsic properties of the protein: DNA binding, iron sequestration, and its ferroxidase activity. Proteomic studies have lead to the
inference of a regulatory role for Dps as well; however, the ability of Dps to serve as a global regulator during nutritional deprivation has yet to be directly examined... |

Abstract
|
| |
DNA microarray technology is a fundamental tool in gene expression data analysis. The collection of datasets from the technology has underscored the need for quantitative analytical tools to examine such data. Due to the large number of genes and complex gene regulation networks, clustering is a useful exploratory technique for analyzing these data. Many clustering algorithms have been proposed to analyze microarray gene expression data, but very few of them evaluate the quality of the clusters... |

Abstract

MicroRNAs (miRNA’s) constitute a large family of non coding RNAs that function to regulate gene expression.
Wet lab experiments usually used to classify the miRNA of plants and animals are highly expensive, labor intensive and time consuming. Thus there arises a need for computational approach for classification of plant and animal miRNA. These computational approaches are fast and economical as compared to wet lab techniques. Here a machine learning approach is used to classify miRNA of HIV, plants and animals... |

Abstract
|
| |
Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzymatic protein involved in catabolism of amino acids. The carbon distribution study on this clinically important protein is carried out here. The study reveals that the carbon content is generally higher than the expected values of 31.45%. The alteration in carbon content other than the active site might improve the activity of this enzymatic protein. Particularly the reduction at the carboxyl end of the sequence is more appropriate. Carbon
distribution analysis clearly locates the active site of ALT protein, which is reported here... |

Abstract

Automatic diagnosis of rice plant diseases at an early stage and taking corrective measures in time saves damages of rice crop across the world. The paper aims at developing an appropriate methodology to classify diseases with the help of feature sets obtained by analyzing images of infected rice plants acquired from the field. Since all features are not important in classifying diseases; selection of optimum features is a challenging task to address the problem. The work is performed in three steps. Firstly thirty six features of different category are extracted from the diseased plant images using image processing techniques... |

Abstract

This paper describes a different neural network model for classification and grading of bulk seeds samples using different artificial neural network models. Algorithms are developed to acquire and process color images of bulk seeds samples. Different seeds like Groundnut, Jowar, Wheat, Rice, Metagi, Red gram, Bengal gram, and Lentils etc. are considered for the study. The developed algorithms are used to extract over 11 (9 color, area and equidiameter) features, 18 (color only) features and 20 (18 color and 2 boundary) features... |

To monitor & control the remotely situated Electro-Mechanical system or system parameters’ we propose novel
wireless framework using cell phones‘s SMS facilities. Our system enables the farmer to get the intimation about status both on demand as well as automatically in critical situations viz. water level in the tank or well, voltage and current level, water level reached in the field while pouring water to the crop, pressure, Temperatures etc. in the form of feedback SMS and control the operations of the system accordingly... |

Cashew is a commercial commodity that plays a major role in earning foreign revenue among export commodities
in India. The purpose of this research work is to explore image processing techniques and approaches on Indian cashew variety identification based on their kernels. Colour is an important quality factor for grading, marketing, and end users. Our primary objective is to develop a cost-effective intelligent model to identify the cashew kernels. Colour features in the RGB (red-green-blue) colour space are extracted and computed... |
