Abstract

| |
The purpose of this article is to describe the findings from this review
and to discuss implications and future directions for corporate and bureaucratic power
within the capitalist enterprise, understanding how the performance of bureaucracy
arise out of politics, social and moral costs of bureaucratization, rational bureaucracy
as the dominant organizational form, and the merits and possibilities of bureaucracy.
The results of the current study converge with prior research on the systemic tension
between the political and the bureaucratic, the ethics of bureaucratic conduct, the
professional role of state bureaucrats, and the nature and extent of political influence
on bureaucratic action. |

We are specifically interested in how previous research investigated
the link between earnings/information quality and cost of equity capital, the relation-
ship between discretionary accruals quality and cost of capital, the market process
that determines cost of capital and allocates risk, and the relation between disclosure
quality and cost of capital. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by
examining the cost of capital for companies in regulated sectors, the nominal cost of
capital that derives from market interest rates, the growth model of cost of equity,
and the implicit or opportunity cost of capital. |

communities and collaborative work in digital democracy, the role of media in a
democratic society, the blurring of the news–entertainment boundaries, the routini-
zation of news practice, and the impact of internal processes and practice on media

shaping the growing commercialization of the media, the language of the news media,

The purpose of this paper is to examine the issue of long memory
stock returns of emerging markets. The study carries out a biased reduced semi-parametric test to detect long memory in mean process. The results suggest no strong
evidence of long memory in mean process of stock returns both in emerging and
developed markets. The results are in contrast with earlier studies, which conclude
that emerging markets in general characterized by long memory process. Hence,
long memory is not a peculiar characteristic of emerging markets but appear to be
stylized fact of asset returns irrespective of stage of development of the market... |
